Our Mission

Our goal is to grow, sell, and showcase distinctive, cutting-edge garden plants to adventurous gardeners.

Our nursery is in a peaceful garden setting and demonstration borders and containers promote an artful and ecologically sound approach to gardening and home improvement.

We are avid plantsmen, hands-on gardeners, and educators and strive to provide expert knowledge and advice to our customers.

Who We Are

Loomis Creek Nursery is a dynamic specialty retail nursery in New York’s Hudson River Valley. We enjoy the changing seasons of USDA hardiness zone 5, and sell plants suited for zones 4-6.

• We only sell plants & pottery on site at our nursery and at select trade shows.
• We are not a mail-order nursery and cannot ship plants.
• Our website plant lists are intended to whet your appetite. We grow and sell many more plants that are not listed.
• Plants on our lists are not available at all times – call ahead for availability. We sell plants that are well-rooted and ready for planting in your garden.

Our Location

Loomis Creek Nursery is located in western Columbia County in the town of Claverack — approximately 3 miles southeast of Hudson, New York, 100 miles north of New York City and 35 miles south of Albany. See Directions to Loomis Creek Nursery for more details.

Plant Availability &Custom Orders

We generally grow in small lots of approximately 50-70 plants in both quart and gallon containers for our retail nursery. We also accept custom orders for larger quantities or plants not found on our list – call and inquire (518-851-9801).

Trade Discounts

We offer a professional discount to gardeners, landscape architects and designers who provide valid tax identification numbers and business certificates. Please inquire.

Our Responsibility

We guarantee our plants to be true to name and in good health when they leave the nursery.

GIFT CERTIFICATES

What a great way to thank the “adventurous gardeners” in your life. Gift certificates are available in any amount for the purchase of plants, pottery, and design services. GARDEN DESIGN SERVICES – Book early for best availability!

Loomis Creek offers 1-hour garden consultations @ $100 within a 20-mile radius of our nursery (additional fees for areas beyond). We assess existing site conditions and plantings and offer expert advice to inform decision-making about plant selection and design. We do not offer garden installation or maintenance services, but do make referrals.

PLANTS

Loomis Creek Nursery offers over 600 different garden-worthy plants for sale. We continue to expand our line of exceptional shrubs for sun and shade borders. Browse our listings of Perennials, Shrubs & Vines, Ornamental Grasses, Ferns, and Annuals.

Our perennials and shrubs are appropriate for northern climates (USDA hardiness zones 4-6), offer multi-season interest and are not invasive pests in our region. In addition, we like to ignore hardiness zones and grow a spectacular line of tender perennials and annuals for seasonal color and tropical effects in mixed borders and containers.

POTTERY

We sell a distinctive collection of terra cotta, Asian earthenware, glazed, composite and polyethylene pots in both classic and contemporary shapes and designs. We offer many of these pots pre-planted with exciting combinations of flowers and foliage – or we will plant pots and plants purchased at the nursery for a fee.
